Fix headlights (headlight relay)
Head lights on the Ranger went out. Fuses inside the cab are fine but not receiving power. Could have been the headlamp fuse (20a). Engine compartment fuse / relaybox diagrams. Photos from actual engine compartment fuse box. Check fuse #4 (see diagram above) for headlights. I had the lights on when testing both sides (OK)….
Troubleshoot Ranger High Idle in Park / Rolling Slowly

Trans Fluid Coolant Line – Full Synthetic Dextron III
@194,229 Checking fluid needs to be done when hot, ie. Warm up the engine first. Turned up 2 quarts low. As soon as I added one quart and started the truck it started leaking from the lower transfluid coolant line as described here: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/tranny-line-leak.406652/ The line is super Rusty but since I don’t have many…
Upgrade to 6 inch Lift – Shocks and Springs
@ 194,033 miles The previous owner installed the wrong height shocks and springs so when I bought the truck and replaced them they were the wrong size which meant I needed to add spacers and a high degree camber adjustment bushing in order to get the truck to align. That being said since it was…
New 15×7 Wheels All-Around ($302)
Since one or more of the rims are in bad shape, balancing required a TON of weights indicating they are probably bent, I am replacing them with new Ion wheels / rims to upgrade the aesthetic and fix the high speed shimmy on the highway. Found a set of four for $302.00 and ordered on…
Replace Front 4” inch Lift Springs and Shocks with Correctly Sized 6” Springs and Shocks ($191)
The previous owner mis-measured the lift at 4 inches so when I replaced the springs and shocks the year before last we ALSO had the wrong size. This meant the alignment was difficult to maintain since the springs and shocks were too short (and therefore left too much Camber for the alignment bushings to absorb…
Front Brakes: Pads and Rotors ($116.00)
Mileage: 190,698 Front Brakes wore out and rotors were old and warped. Replaced both using gold pads from AutoZone.
Fuel Pump / Fuel Delivery Assembly and Rear Frame Rust Proofing ($150)
Milleage 187,858 Needed to replace the fuel pump (requires lifting bed) so I also coated the back of the frame with enamel after pressure washing and degreasing. Once we replaced the fuel delivery assembly the truck started right up. Time to rust proof the frame while we have the bed off… First removed flake via…
Alternator: $156 Bosch Premium
Milleage: 184,000 Replaced with Bosch: One of the bolts ended up being tough to get out seems like someone screwed up the thread at some point in the past.
